The Beginning
It all started with a Jim Gaffigan joke.
Daniel and Amanda met through OKCupid, an online dating app. Daniel messaged Amanda with a cute joke referencing a comedian she had listed in her profile. And how did Amanda respond? She didn’t…for 3 whole months! She was likely overthinking the whole dating situation but thankfully when she reached back out he was still interested. For their first date, they met up at Claudine’s for coffee. And there a connection was made, over some sweet treats and good conversation. They talked until the cafe closed and the waitstaff had to shoo them out.
One date led to many more dates: mini golf at Castle Park, Dodger games with Friday Night Fireworks, Jazz at the Getty followed by Ethiopian, and fancy sushi along the Boulevard — just to name a few.
They clearly liked each other and made things official. And life began to seamlessly come together- they moved in together, got a bigger place and Amanda finally convinced Daniel that he can be a dog person! Now they spend most of their days making TikToks with their puppy, Kirby, and trying to find the best dinner spots across LA.
The Proposal
”Should I pack a nice outfit?”
Daniel was of course very sneaky and Amanda did not expect a thing. After Christmas, the two of them packed up their stuff and the dogs for a road trip to Paso Robles. While packing, Amanda turns to Daniel and asks, “Do you think we will go out somewhere nicer for dinner; should I pack a nice outfit?” Daniel casually responds, “Nah – I’m just packing jeans, shirts and a sweater.”
Jeans, sweatshirts and a beanie it was.
On Monday, December 27th it rained most of the morning and the two of them cuddled with the dogs and watched movies. There was a slight break in the rain and Daniel suggested they get a family photo in the picturesque backdrop of their Airbnb. Daniel set up the tripod and Amanda got the dogs ready. Once outside Daniel confessed, “I set this up not only for our family photo but I really wanted to ask you – will you marry me?”
On the video you can see Amanda gasp, followed by a “Are you serious?!”. Hugs, kisses and tears were shared with a resounding YES! And with any proper celebration, they finished their day with some wine, fried chicken and pie!
